Youth Reading Club Announces Top 3 Books of 2024 for 'Ausgewählt' Award
The Youth Reading Club, in collaboration with Landshut's students, has selected the top three youth books of 2024. The award ceremony, 'Ausgewählt', will take place on Thursday, September 25, at 6:30 PM at the City Library on Weilerstraße. A champagne reception will follow the event.
The Youth Reading Club, which has been part of the German Youth Literature Prize jury from 2003 to 2008 and again since 2023, has been actively involved in promoting literature among young people. Members and students in grades seven to ten have spent months reading, discussing, and evaluating current youth books to determine the winners.
The award ceremony will see the presentation of the three chosen youth books from 2024 new releases. Anna Dimitrova's 'Kanak Kids' has been awarded first prize. The other two winning books from 2024 are yet to be explicitly named. The winning books will be presented by the youth themselves at the ceremony.
The 'Ausgewählt' youth book prize has been awarded annually since 2009 to encourage reading and literature among young people. The event is open to students who participated and anyone interested, with registration via the media portal or phone. Due to limited seating, registration is required. Mayor Alexander Putz continues the work of the late author and translator Mirjam Pressler as the patron of the project.
