The 13th Duck Race, organized by the Rotary Club Hamburg Harburg, was a fun community gathering, encouraging local participation and charity efforts.
Proceeds and Beneficiaries
The proceeds from the sale of the rubber ducks contributed approximately 13,000 euros to the event. The majority of the collected funds will be donated to the Harburg Food Bank, which is currently facing a constant increase in the number of needy people while food donations are decreasing.
The Rotary Club Hamburg Harburg also supports education and youth programs, social services for underprivileged groups, and environmental initiatives in the region.
Unclaimed Prizes
After the race, various prizes were awarded to ticket holders with winning duck numbers. However, some prizes remain unclaimed due to winners not contacting the Rotary Club. Unclaimed prizes can be picked up at the Sparkasse Harburg-Buxtehude branch in Harburg upon presentation of the ticket. If not claimed by the deadline, the unclaimed prizes will either be reallocated to future event participants or donated to charity.

The event had a fair-like atmosphere, with attractions such as a wheel of fortune, a Bruzzelhütte wagon, and a shady coffee and cake tent. The big band of the Heisenberg Gymnasium performed at the event. Over 1000 people attended the Duck Race, and almost all race licenses were sold in advance.
The voluntary fire brigade Eißendorf provided the propulsion for the ducks using a powerful water jet from three C-pipes. A total of 265 prizes, valued at 5000 euros, were available for the event. The winning duck's owner will receive a weekend stay in Kühlungsborn for two people.
Michael Witthöft, a member of the Rotarians, stated that many prizes were not picked up after the race. It is essential to contact the Rotary Club Hamburg Harburg if you have winning numbers to claim your prize.
