Ussuri's Central Square Set for Dramatic Makeover

Ussuriysk City District Sets Sights on Beautifying Central Square Through Resident-Led Project

In an effort to upgrade the city's Central Square, the Ussuriysk City District has unveiled a concept, developed by the "Partisipation" project bureau, which aims to secure funding through the "Infrastructure for Life" national project. The proposed renovation includes the addition of a dry fountain, aroma garden, rest shelters, and a children's playground. All existing monuments will be preserved.

The plan receives the support of Ussuriysk residents, who have contributed their ideas and wishes for the project. Noteworthy improvements from these suggestions have been incorporated into the final design. The city focuses on enhancing public spaces while catering to residents' needs and preserving the historical character of the area.

Beyond the Central Square renovation, Ussuriysk City District has allocated funds for two projects within the Ussuriysk City District's initiative budgeting program. One project involves creating a recreational park with sports and children's facilities in the "Zagorodnoe" microdistrict, and the other is the asphalt paving of an inter-block passage and sidewalk on Voksalnaya Dam Street. Both projects are planned for completion by the end of the year.

Currently, the design project for the DORA City Park beautification is open for public voting on zagorodsreda.gosuslugi.ru. Over 30,000 Ussuriysk residents have cast their votes so far.

Ussuriysk City District Head Yevgeny Korzh emphasized the importance of citizen participation in these initiatives. According to Korzh, the successful beautification of two squares this year was a result of numerous votes. He expressed confidence that the modern city park project would also receive substantial support.

In the past five years, Ussuriysk City District has transformed and beautified 16 parks and squares under various national projects, state, regional, and local programs combined. Beautification projects form a significant part of the city's ongoing development efforts, aiming to improve the quality of life for residents and attract tourists.

In the ongoing development of Ussuriysk City, residents are also advocating for sustainable lifestyle enhancements. The ideas for a recreational park in the "Zagorodnoe" microdistrict and the promotion of outdoor-living through home-and-garden initiatives are gaining traction, reflecting the desire for an improved home and living environment that supports sustainable-living.
