Urgent Plea for Aid at Mainz Animal Shelter
Mainz Animal Shelter in Urgent Need of Supplies
The Mainz animal shelter, located at Zwerchallee 13-15, is currently facing a shortage of supplies due to the high number of new arrivals. The shelter is in need of various items to support the health, comfort, and care of the animals, particularly wild animals, cats, and kittens.
Nutritional Needs
The shelter is seeking canned food brands suitable for shelter animals, with preferred brands including Mjamjam, Animonda, CarnyReal, Nature Wilderness, Edgar & Cooper Pets Deli, GranataPet, and MAC's Happy Cat. In addition, the shelter requires Carny wet food for both kittens and adults, Vet. Concept Urgent Care (wet food), and Royal Canin puppy or kitten growth milk.
For the smaller, more specific dietary needs, the shelter is asking for high-meat content kitten dry food with minimal grain additives.
Digestive Aids and Hygiene Supplies
Lactrase capsules, which help with lactose intolerance in cats and dogs, are also requested by the shelter. Incontinence pads, disposable gloves, and Snuggle heat pads are essential for hygiene and disease prevention, while providing warmth and comfort, critical for recovering or very young animals.
Comfort Items
Cuddle sacks and cuddle pouches offer a safe and comforting space for the animals, especially for those that are underweight, injured, or still have their umbilical cord attached. The shelter is currently caring for many small hedgehogs, with new babies arriving every day.
Wildlife Protection
The shelter is also in need of frozen insects and live mealworms/larvae for the wild animals. According to the shelter's Instagram page, all new arrivals have a big appetite, and the shelter is asking for canned food donations for cats.
Donations can be made during the shelter's opening hours, daily from 8 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm. Together, we can help support the Mainz animal shelter in its mission to provide a safe and nurturing environment for these animals in need.
