Urban Photography Expedition: Documenting the Attractive and Less Appealing Cornerstones within the Cityscape
On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, the first meeting for the art project "(Not) My Corner" will take place at the Haus der Jugend, Westliche Karl-Friedrich-Straße 77, from 4 to 6 pm. This inspiring project, aimed at girls and young women aged 12 to 18, is a collaborative effort between A.K.T! and EMMA Zentrum, Pforzheim, as part of the "Not Your..." event series.
The project, supported by several city departments including Inclusion, Integration, Youth Promotion, Urban Planning, the Youth City Council, and the SJR/Haus der Jugend, aims to provide a platform for young women to express their perspectives on the city. The Equal Opportunities Office initiated the topic "Female Perspective on Urban Planning" in March.
The artist duo, Linda Wendel and Bart Dewijze, popularly known as "The Artpole", will present and discuss the project at the meeting. The duo made an impressive mark in the city center of Enzberg with their work.
The project is part of the "Prevention Network Child Poverty" program, funded by the state program "Strong Children - Opportunities" of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, and Integration in Baden-Württemberg until the end of 2024. The goal is for young women to showcase places in the city they like or dislike in a networking project, culminating in a photography exhibition.
The photography workshop for the project will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 2 to 6 pm at the Haus der Jugend. The actual photography sessions with participants are voluntary after the workshop.
The exhibition will be displayed at various locations in the city, offering the opportunity for the wider community to engage with the perspectives of young women in Pforzheim. This event appears to be community-engaged, empowering young women through photography to creatively express their perspectives in their local neighborhood.
Please note that this project is no longer current, as this post is archived. For detailed participant lists or a full timeline beyond the single event day, such information may require direct inquiry with A.K.T! or EMMA Zentrum or checking their event archives or social media updates.
