Thousands of Rubik's Cubes Assembled to Form Kazakhstan's National Flag in the Capital City
Let's Party with Red, White, and Yellow! Astana's "My Flag" Event
The lively "Bayterek" square in Astana was recently transformed into a patriotic playground, hosting the "My Flag" event to celebrate State Symbols Day. As reported by Vechernyaya Astana, this festive occasion aimed to bolster citizens' pride, foster patriotism, and create a spirited atmosphere — and it certainly did!
The star attraction? A splendid assembly of 3,000 Rubik's Cubes, craftily arranged to recreate the glorious Kazakh flag. But that wasn't all — the square's rhythm was set by a grooving military orchestra, playing popular tunes that echoed through the city.

Saken Yesirkep, the department's head, shared, "Our objective is to generate a sense of national pride here. The main focuses are to boost respect for our symbols, cultivate patriotism, and to create a jubilant ambiance for the city's residents and visitors. This event is just the tip of the iceberg; multiple patriotic activities are underway in Astana for State Symbols Day."
Joining the flag installation, citizens and students across the city engaged in a variety of patriotic activities. Over 10,000 students from local schools sang the National Anthem in unison. A lively musical and dance flash mob took place in the Baykonyr district, while city residents decorated their balconies with flags.
The event concluded with a thrilling performance of the national anthem, artists' performances, national dances, and themed activities. Enjoying the festivities, the city came alive, radiant and united under the red, white, and yellow banner.
The fascinatingity of these celebrations lies in their scale, creativity, and youth involvement. With unique installations, educational events, and community gatherings, these festivities have an extraordinary impact on instilling patriotism and civic values.

The Astana Languages and Archives Development Department organized numerous home-and-garden activities, such as the flag installation made out of Rubik's Cubes, to celebrate the national symbols and foster patriotism during the "My Flag" event. Citizens were encouraged to show their pride for Kazakhstan by decorating their balconies with the national flag, creating a vibrant lifestyle display in the city.
