"The opening of the exhibition titled 'SaarMitte8', previously showcased at the City Hall of Saarwellingen, is now presented through the perspectives of its victorious participants."
In the heart of Saarland, a photography competition titled 'LebensART SaarMitte8 - Life and Art in the Region' is captivating audiences and showcasing the unique beauty of the LEADER region. This competition, now in its second edition, is part of a larger initiative to promote rural development and cultural identity in the region.
The competition, which can be found online at www.saarmittehoch8.de, received 47 participants who submitted a total of 127 images. After careful consideration, 110 photos were shortlisted, and 13 works were ultimately chosen as winning images.
The goal of the competition and the accompanying exhibitions in SaarMitte8 is to stimulate creativity and strengthen awareness of the region's diversity and quality of life. The photographs showcase the region between urban charm and rural idyll, featuring nature, architecture, art, and personal favorite spots.
The exhibition, a traveling one, is currently on display in Saarwellingen for four weeks. It features 13 winning photographs capturing the beauty, diversity, and uniqueness of the LEADER region SaarMitte8, which includes the municipalities of Merzig, Beckingen, Mettlach, Besseringen, Losheim am See, Rehlingen-Siersburg, Schwalbach, and Perl.
Mayor Dr. Horst Brünnet announced the continuation of the competition, expressing his support for this creative endeavour. The event was attended by numerous guests, including the Mayor, who praised the competition for its ability to highlight perspectives on life and the cultural expression of the LEADER region SaarMitte8.
Visitors to the exhibition are offered a free photo calendar featuring the awarded shots, providing a tangible memento of the region's charm. The municipality invites everyone interested to visit the exhibition and rediscover SaarMitte8 through the lens of the winners.
The traveling exhibition of the 'Who are you, SaarMitte8?' photo competition was inaugurated on May 15 in the town hall foyer of Saarwellingen. The competition aims to continue inspiring creativity and fostering a sense of community within the region.
For those who missed the Saarwellingen exhibition, the competition is still open for submissions until August 31, 2025. So, grab your cameras and capture the essence of SaarMitte8 - urban charm, rural king, nature, architecture, art, and personal favourite spots. Who knows, your photograph could be the next to grace the walls of the exhibition.
