The mayor expresses gratitude to you by presenting a bike grill
In a unique gesture of gratitude, the Mayor of Garbsen, Claudio Provenzano, recently hosted the city's first Bike Grill event. This novel initiative aimed to recognise and appreciate the efforts of dedicated cyclists in the city and promote sustainable transportation.
The event, held in the heart of the city (with the exact location undisclosed), brought together 1,027 cyclists from 51 main teams who participated in the STADTRADELN competition. The Bike Grill event not only served as a platform to honour these cyclists but also boosted the morale of cyclists citywide, encouraging more people to embrace cycling as a mode of transport.
The Bike Grill event was more than just a gathering. It was an opportunity for the cyclists to unwind, socialise, and even enjoy a meal, courtesy of the city's service team. The functional grill, mounted on a bicycle, was used to cook food for the cyclists, adding a unique twist to the event.
The top 10 individual cyclists were rewarded with vouchers for bike shops, while prizes such as cash, escape games, books, mudguards, and reflective stickers were given to class 9b of the Johannes-Kepler-Gymnasium and Grundschule Stelingen for their impressive performance in the STADTRADELN competition. The name of the class teacher who led class 9b to victory remains undisclosed.
Harald Granow, a prominent participant, cycled an impressive 3,027.8 kilometers, setting a new benchmark. The event also marked the first time that the best classes of secondary schools and primary schools were awarded in the bike grill event.
The ADFC Garbsen-Seelze provided support for this year's STADTRADELN competition, further emphasising the city's commitment to promoting sustainable transportation. Between June 18 and July 7, a total of 212,429 kilometers were cycled in Garbsen, saving around 35 tons of CO2.
Mayor Provenzano expressed his gratitude to the cyclists for their commitment to climate protection. He stated, "The Bike Grill event is a testament to our city's dedication to promoting sustainable transportation and recognising the efforts of our cyclists."
With the success of the first Bike Grill event, it seems that Garbsen is setting a new trend in recognising and appreciating its cyclists, encouraging more people to embrace cycling and contribute to a greener city.
