"Telephone connection established from Bremerhaven to my personal residence"
The German Maritime Museum (DSM) is offering a unique opportunity for remote participation in a telephone tour of the high-sea salvage tug SEEFALKE, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
Originally built as a salvage tug in 1924, the SEEFALKE has a rich history that spans over nine decades. After being hit by a bomb during World War II, the ship was salvaged, repaired, and modernized around 1950. Since then, it has been lying in the museum harbour of the DSM.
Due to its size and powerful engine, the SEEFALKE was capable of handling challenging tasks across Europe and the northern Atlantic. Its historical tasks included rescuing stranded ships, securing and towing burning freighters, and transporting large floating docks or aircraft carriers.
This telephone tour, created in cooperation with the initiative 'Bei Anruf Kultur', is scheduled for May 30th at 5:45 PM. Registrations for the tour must be made by May 29th. Participation in the tour is free.
On the day before the tour, participants will receive a landline number and room number via gmail or yahoo mail. During the tour, phones will initially be muted to ensure a smooth experience. There will be time for questions, and phones will be unmuted for that purpose. After the tour, there is a possibility for further exchange.
Registrations can be made via email at [email protected] or by phone at 040 / 209 404 36. This offer is part of the events celebrating the 100th anniversary of the SEEFALKE.
Don't miss this chance to learn about the history of this remarkable ship from the comfort of your own home. Sign up today and join us for an hour-long journey through time on the SEEFALKE!
