Sylverberg Kindergarten Launches Pioneering 'Fox Den' Forest Group

Sylverberg kindergarten has launched a unique initiative, the 'Fox Den', a forest group for children aged three to six. The group enjoys a vast, fenced forest area of approximately 10,000 square meters on the kindergarten grounds, promoting learning and exploration. Mayor Marc Herter spearheaded this project, which emphasizes sustainable development education and forest pedagogy.

The 'Fox Den' group spends most of their time outdoors, rain or shine, with a special caravan serving as a shelter and base. This mobile unit, inaugurated by Mayor Herter in September, is used for meals, rest times, changing situations, and storage. The group's approach is guided by the motto 'Experience nature - learn to live', blending principles of forest pedagogy and Montessori pedagogy. The focus is on sustainable development education, fostering a deep connection with nature and the environment.

The 'Fox Den' group at Sylverberg kindergarten is a pioneering venture, providing children with a unique learning experience in nature. With a dedicated forest area and a mobile caravan for shelter, the group thrives on outdoor learning, promoting sustainable development and a strong connection to the natural world.
