Summer Illumination in Borgomanero's Centre: Colored LEDs Transform Street into a Tricolor Spectacle
Borgomanero, Italy, Unveils Colorful Historic Center
Starting tonight, Saturday, from 9:30 PM to midnight, Borgomanero will trial its new LED color lighting system in the city's heart. The system was officially presented at the city hall on Thursday by Loredana Abbate, assessor for Commerce, Francesco Valsesia, assessor for Culture, Luigi Laterza, provincial councilor and president of local Confcommercio, along with two municipal officials, Marco Lavatelli and Roberto Fornara.
The procurement of the lighting system was made possible by funds from a regional tender, awarding the city €140,000 out of the €175,000 cost of the system. The lighting devices, produced by Enel Sole, number 70, and are controlled by a computerized system that allows for mixing colors and obtaining a rich range of chromatic effects. This evening, the city will be lit in the tricolor in celebration of Republic Day on Monday.
According to Laterza, this realization is also the result of the synergy between the Municipality and traders, aiming to make the city more lively. The system has been successfully tested in Eindhoven, Netherlands, becoming an attraction, and the city hopes for similar success. Those who visit Borgomanero will find a pleasant surprise this summer, combined with numerous events.
From June 4 to July 23, the courtyard of Villa Marazza will host concerts of classical and light music, "Music in villa," and on the Fridays of June, live music will be played in the city's venues for the aperitif. In July, there will be "Thursday shopping nights" with the shops in the center open until midnight. Other events scheduled for July include the "White Night" on July 5 and "The Night of Wine" on July 26.
Though no specific schedule of events for Borgomanero has been announced, municipalities in the Piedmont region, where Borgomanero is located, often enhance public spaces with new infrastructure ahead of national holidays such as Republic Day. These upgrades are intended to improve the urban environment, foster community pride, and provide a safer, more visually appealing setting for public gatherings.
While Borgomanero itself is not specifically named in regional sources, municipalities in Piedmont—including nearby Novara—are known to organize markets, public celebrations, and cultural events around major holidays, often in revitalized squares or illuminated public spaces[5]. The new LED lighting system in Borgomanero aims to add to this festive atmosphere.
In an effort to boost the city's liveliness, Borgomanero is introducing an LED color lighting system from June 4, transforming its streets into a vibrant spectacle of outdoor-living. This summer, home-and-garden events like concerts, live music, and late-night shopping will illuminate the city under the new chromatic effects, serving as a testament to the city's dedication to enhancing its lifestyle and public spaces.
