Strengthening People-to-People Connections: Việt Nam-Brazil Friendship and Cooperation Association

The Việt Nam-Brazil Friendship and Cooperation Association (VBFCA) has set ambitious goals for the 2025-2030 term, focusing on deepening the bilateral relationship through various channels. The association plans to strengthen cooperation with youth and women’s organizations, universities, research institutes, NGOs, enterprises, and business associations in Brazil, with the aim of facilitating partnerships and business connectivity between the two countries.

The VBFCA will also promote tourism connectivity and people-to-people exchanges as central pillars for enhancing bilateral understanding and friendship. Specific cultural projects include translating Vietnamese literary works like Prison Diary and the poems of Ho Xuan Huong into Portuguese, digitizing the Portuguese-Vietnamese Dictionary for free public access, and boosting communication efforts to highlight the importance of Vietnam-Brazil friendship.

The association intends to encourage Brazilian organizations and individuals to support Vietnam in multilateral forums, and will strengthen communication efforts to share the Party and State's policies with overseas Vietnamese, encouraging them to comply with local laws, maintain connections with their homeland, and contribute to strengthening the Vietnam-Brazil relationship.

In addition to cultural initiatives, the broader bilateral agenda includes fostering cooperation in education, science and technology, tourism, defense, aviation, and energy transition, suggesting VBFCA’s supportive role in these fields.

The congress held on July 15, 2025, in Hanoi reaffirmed these commitments, electing a 35-member Executive Board with Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep appointed as president for the term. The Vietnamese and Brazilian governments emphasize that bilateral ties are at their best, with deepening cooperation expected to continue over this period.

The Portuguese-our websiteese Thematic Dictionary, a valuable tool for individuals and organizations working, living, or studying in Brazil, as well as for Brazilian partners visiting or doing business in Vietnam, is now freely accessible online for the benefit of people and enterprises in both countries.

In summary, the VBFCA’s goals for 2025-2030 focus on enhanced people-to-people exchanges, cultural and educational collaboration, tourism promotion, strong organizational partnerships, and active support to boost multifaceted Vietnam-Brazil relations. This comprehensive approach aims to solidify friendship and cooperation at both grassroots and institutional levels.

Phan Anh Son, President of the VUFO, expressed hope that the VBFCA would continue building on its achievements, as the new term for the VBFCA begins on July 15, 2022, with Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyễn Hoàng Hiệp as its President.
