Steinbach Launches RCIP to Attract Skilled Immigrants
Steinbach, Manitoba's third-largest city, has launched its Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP). This employer-driven pathway aims to attract foreign nationals with skills in high demand, facilitating their permanent residence in the region. The RCIP focuses on specific priority sectors and professions, with a streamlined application process.
Steinbach's RCIP prioritises occupations such as accounting technicians, health professionals, tradespeople, and managers. The intake period opens on the first of every month and closes on the 15th, or when seven applications are received. Employers in Steinbach's priority sectors - Health, Education, Law and Social Services, Sales and Service, Trades and Transport, and Manufacturing and Utilities - can participate as designated employers.
To qualify, foreign nationals must have job offers for occupations with approved NOC codes, along with additional criteria regarding work experience, language proficiency, educational qualifications, and settlement funds. Steinbach Economic Development (SED) will issue up to five recommendations per intake period on a first-come, first-served basis. A maximum of one recommendation per NOC code per month and two per calendar year is allowed, with exceptions for certain healthcare NOC codes.
Steinbach's RCIP aims to expedite immigration applications for candidates with in-demand skills, supporting the city's growth and economic development. By focusing on specific sectors and professions, the RCIP helps foreign nationals settle in the region more quickly, contributing to Steinbach's diverse and skilled workforce.
