Rödermark's Ambitious Plan: Boost Walking & Cycling by 2026

The city of Rödermark has embarked on an ambitious project to boost walking and cycling by 2026. The initiative, named 'Classified Cycling Network' (RCN), aims to optimise and expand existing infrastructure, with a focus on citizen involvement.

The project will identify key walking connections and routes for the cycling network, and develop measures to close network gaps. A steering committee and two working groups, 'Foot Rödermark' and 'Bike Rödermark', will accompany the project. The planning office 'Traffic Alternatives Cycling Plus Walking' (VAR+) has been commissioned to develop the concept by 2026.

Citizen participation is at the heart of the project. Workshops and an interactive online map will allow residents to provide input on planning drafts. The RCN will have different classification levels: 'Commuting routes', 'Basic routes', and a 'Dense network' for major connections.

The city of Rödermark is committed to increasing walking and cycling by 2026. Through the RCN project, it aims to tailor the concept to the needs and wishes of its residents, fostering a more environmentally friendly traffic culture.
