Revamped Al Quoz Creative Zone in Dubai is adorned with captivating new murals by Culture department.
In the heart of Dubai's creative hub, the Al Quoz Creative Zone, three female artists have brought their unique talents together to create a series of captivating murals. The artists, Rabab Tantawy, Hend Al Murid, and Dina Saadi, are contributing to Dubai's artistic landscape as part of the Dubai Public Art Strategy.
Egyptian artist Rabab Tantawy painted a mural called Vibrant Voices of Al Quoz on the facade of Aramtec, showcasing traditional regional elements like spice stalls, coffee pots, arches, and domes. Tantawy's mural celebrates the cultural richness of the Al Quoz area.
Meanwhile, Emirati artist Hend Al Murid and Syrian muralist Dina Saadi collaborated on a mural called Wonder Windows. This mural, located on the front of the children's museum WooHoo, incorporates symbols like the Hudhud bird, Emirati motifs, and playful elements tied to childhood imagination.
The murals, as noted by Mozah Lootah, the Project Manager for the Dubai Public Art Strategy, spark dialogue with the community in Dubai. They also contribute to tourism in the city, as stated by Lootah. Shaima Rashid Al Suwaidi, the CEO of the Arts, Design & Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, agrees, stating that the murals offer public spaces that reflect the UAE's heritage and innovation.
These murals are part of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority's efforts to introduce public art into the city. The authority has introduced two murals in the Al Quoz Creative Zone as part of the Dubai Public Art Strategy. The initiative, according to Al Suwaidi, supports the growth of Dubai's creative community.
The murals in the Al Quoz Creative Zone not only add vibrant colour to the area but also reflect the distinct energy, diversity, and creative spirit of Al Quoz. They enhance public spaces and promote cultural dialogue in line with Dubai’s vision for inclusivity and artistic expression in public art.
