"Reopening Event": Unveiling the vintage Deisenhofen Railway Station
The integration guest house at the historic Old Deisenhofen Station in Munich is gearing up for its grand opening, with plans to welcome residents as early as January. This special project, a collaborative effort between the Karl-Hopner Foundation and the municipality of Oberhaching, aims to support immigrants, refugees, and socially disadvantaged individuals by providing temporary accommodation and integration services.
Located in a beautifully repurposed building, the facility will offer six guest rooms, communal living spaces, and access to language and vocational training programs. It is also expected to provide counseling and social support to help residents integrate into the local community. The project seeks to promote social cohesion and support integration efforts within the Deisenhofen area by fostering a welcoming environment.
The integration guest house project has received generous donations during local events such as the church and street festivals in Oberhaching. Interested individuals or organisations can contribute by making direct monetary donations via the project’s official website or affiliated non-profit organisations, donating goods or services, or volunteering time or professional expertise.
Nina Hartmann, the third mayor of Oberhaching (Greens), signed the contract for the integration guest house, and Sabine Beisken-Hengge is the sender of the comments. Katharina Inselkammer leads the integration guest house, and the Karl-Hopner Foundation owns 51% of the shares, while the municipality of Oberhaching owns 49%. Notable figures such as Anne and Karl Hopfner, former president of FC Bayern Munich, have shown their support for the project by attending the topping-out ceremony.
For more information about the project and donation opportunities, visit www.bahnhof-deisenhofen.de. Inselkammer is hopeful that the guest house will open in December, but the exact date will be announced soon. The upper floor of the guest house will also feature space for events, furthering its role as a hub for community engagement and integration.
