Revitalization of Atelier Augarten: What's Freakin' Happening and When?

Sick of hearing about all the dust and construction happening around Vienna-Leopoldstadt? Well, buckle up, buddy, because the Atelier Augarten, a decades-old art complex, is finally getting some TLC, starting in 2026. But don't worry, there's a bit of art and culture action going down before it all comes crumbling down for a renovation.

Before the Wrecking Ball Strikes: Cultural Pop-Up ProgramLemme tell ya, we ain't just twiddling our thumbs waiting for the renovation to begin. From May 8 to the end of 2025, this spot is gonna be poppin' with readings, exhibitions, cultural festivals, and outdoor events!

Here's the lowdown on what's goin' down this summer:

• Photobooze Extravaganza: Kick-startin' the season, we've got the book "The Last Wilderness", featuring jaw-droppin' photos by Barbara Seyr and a text by Raoul Schrott. It's a triumphant tale of their Sahara expedition, that's release date was on December 5th, 20241.
• Arty Farty students: Showcasing the work of photography students from the University of Applied Arts from May 20 to June 201.
• Summer Vibes: Can't wait to spill the beans on the indoor-outdoor summer program planned for late June to late August1. Unfortunately, a contractual agreement hasn't been signed yet, so we can't dish all the deets. But don't you worry, the period is reserved!

Relations Between Art and SocietyAre you ready for a blend of reality, technology, and artistic expression? From September to the beginning of October, immerse yourself in the mixed-reality project "Re-Entangling Encounters. The Future of Demonstration". It explores new connections between art and society, examining ecological, social, and technological relations and the potentials and risks of AI2. Expect performances, exhibitions, symposia, and workshops.

One and a Half Years of ClosureStarting in autumn 2025, the Atelier Augarten will shutter its doors for approximately one and a half years2. But don't fret, we've been working like beavers on a sustainable concept for artistic and cultural use, including a section dedicated to the renowned artist Arik Brauer, who sadly passed away in 20213.
