Reinforcing involvement in the digital era: a fresh network enhances information sharing

In the city of Gütersloh, a significant move is being made to bring digital life closer to seniors and expand their opportunities for communication, information, and social participation. On October 1, 2025, at 10:30 AM, a presentation for the DiA network will take place at Filmwerk Gütersloh.

The DiA network is a collaborative effort involving numerous facilities and initiatives engaged in senior care. This network includes professionals such as Friederike Hegemann from the AWO housing counseling agency, Julia Kelp, a specialist for open senior and volunteer work for the AWO district association, and Anke Fuchs, a specialist for open senior and volunteer work of the Diakonie Guetersloh e.V.

Volunteer actors, like Werner Kramer and Anne Naroska from Meeting Point Avenwedde-Mitte, Christina Wolff from the City Library Guetersloh, and Paul Vennhaus from the Digital Companion Diakonie Guetersloh e.V., are also part of the DiA network. The network also includes organisations like the Caritas Association, represented by Katrin Dechange, and the DRK district association, represented by Madeleine Schwichtenhoel.

The DiA network offers practical support, including smartphone courses, digital advice hours, online meeting points, and personal consultations. These resources are tailored to specific needs, ensuring that seniors can comfortably navigate the digital world.

Heidi Ostmeier, the city's senior commissioner, co-organises the network and emphasises that digital media is not a barrier but a bridge, especially in old age. She can be contacted for further questions at 05241 / 82-2156 or hdstmrgtrslhd.

The presentation for the DiA network builds on the popular "coffee klatch" at Filmwerk, where seniors regularly meet before the film screening for the elderly. This event provides a comfortable and familiar setting for seniors to engage with the DiA network.

The DiA network is open to all interested parties and can be brought to other facilities upon request. For more information about the DiA network, including contact details, please visit www.stadt.gt/dia.

The DiA network unites professional and volunteer actors who have been active in senior care for years. Their combined efforts aim to make digital life easier for seniors and foster a sense of community and engagement among them.
