Preparations Complete for Lower Austria's Swimming Season

After months of rigorous preparation, Lower Austria is all set to welcome sunbathers and water enthusiasts. On May 1st, around 130 public baths in the region will commence their annual opening, with lake baths following suit shortly thereafter. Notable destinations such as Thermal Strandbad Baden, Strandbad Klosterneuburg, and Freibad in Krems are slated to kick off the season on the said date. Earlier openings have been scheduled for Thermalbad Bad Vöslau and Akademiebad in Wiener Neustadt on April 26th, while Aquapark Herzogenburg will follow on May 13th, and Aubad Tulln towards the end of May.

"We've been meticulously cleaning, testing, and filling the pools, ensuring they meet stringent hygiene standards. Everything is good to go," shared Lower Austria's bath spokesperson, Harald Gölles.

In an effort to focus on sustainability, many public baths are incorporating energy-saving measures such as new circulation pumps and modernized water treatment facilities, in addition to the expansion of photovoltaics. This dedicated approach is expected to incur a higher entrance fee, with Gölles anticipating an increase of five to ten percent due to escalating operational costs. The boost in fees may affect the pocketbooks of families with children and frequent guests who do not hold a season ticket.

Despite the uncertainty regarding weather conditions, the operators remain optimistic about the summer ahead. The water quality is exceptional, and the leisure activities on offer are diverse. Gölles expressed their aim to provide guests with a hassle-free experience. "We want to ensure our guests enjoy a worry-free time in the sun," he added. The unofficial motto for the upcoming season is "Summer, sun, swimming fun." The only element missing is the sunshine to make for the perfect summer experience.
