Osnabrück Launches Fruit Drop-Off Service for Sustainable Disposal

Osnabrück residents can now dispose of fallen fruits sustainably and conveniently. Osnabrücker Service Betrieb (OSB) has launched a new service, allowing hobby gardeners to drop off unspoiled fruits at various locations across the city.

The fruit drop-off service operates from August 2nd, with special containers available every Saturday at recycling centers and garden waste sites. Fruits can also be taken to nearby juice presses as an alternative.

Opening hours vary by location. Most sites are open from Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, and Saturday, 11 am to 5 pm. The Waste Management Center Piesberg has extended hours on Saturdays, from 9 am to 12 pm. Accepted locations include Ellerstraße/Knollstraße, Limbergerstraße, St-Florian-Straße, Hasewinkel, Eversheide, and the Waste Management Center Piesberg.

For garden waste collection points, hours typically run from April to November, usually on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. However, times may vary by location.

OSB requests that fruits be free of contaminants such as plastic, leaves, stones, or soil. The Waste Management Center Piesberg accepts fallen fruits from Monday to Saturday. Other garden waste sites in the city area cannot accept fallen fruits.

For larger quantities, OSB offers a free service every Saturday until November 1, 2025. Smaller amounts can be disposed of via the household biotonne or home compost pile.

Osnabrück's new fruit drop-off service provides a sustainable solution for disposing of fallen fruits. With various locations and extended hours, it caters to the needs of hobby gardeners. By keeping fruits free of contaminants, residents can help maintain the city's waste management facilities.
