Hamburg, Germany: Soak Up the Sun at Public Pools Beginning This Week
Hanseatic City's New Arrival on Coming Thursday - Open-air baths in the Hanseatic city are set to open this Thursday.
Gear up, Hamburg residents! The long-awaited swimming season is almost here. Starting Thursday, several public pools across the Hanseatic city will open their doors, providing an excellent opportunity for outdoor water fun. The grand finale? The Sommerfreibad Marienhöhe in Süldorf, set to open on Friday.
Looking at the forecast, it seems the perfect time to take a plunge! According to the German Weather Service (DWD), the city can expect temperatures reaching up to an exhilarating 29 degrees Celsius this Friday.
Already mid-May, the Kaifubad and Naturbad Stadtparksee kicked off the season. Now, it's time for the other pools to join in the fun, with daily operations from 11:00 to 19:00. However, be aware of potential unexpected closures due to staff shortages. Pools in Osdorfer Born and Neugraben are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, while Bad Marienhöhe has its downtime on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Parents, pay heed!
If you're planning a splash-tastic outing, be mindful of your children's safety. On the occasion of the initial pool openings, Bäderland spokesman Michael Dietel highlighted the importance of keeping a close eye on kids to prevent unfortunate incidents. In the case of careless supervision, "parents and children may have to vacate the pool."
Additionally, in cooperation with Asklepios clinics, free sunscreen with an SPF of 50 will be offered at various locations this year.

As the swimming season begins in Hamburg, residents might want to consider the community's employment policies regarding lifeguards and pool maintenance, especially with the anticipated high volume of visitors. Meanwhile, families can enjoy outdoor-living and home-and-garden activities during their visit to the public pools, remembering to practice sun safety and maintain a vigilant eye on their children.
