Nvidia's GeForce Now service has received an upgrade, now offering RTX 5080 performance to its Ultimate subscribers, with added Blackwell benefits available in the cloud.
At Gamescom 2025, Nvidia unveiled significant enhancements for its GeForce NOW service, introducing the deployment of new Blackwell SuperPod servers powered by custom NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080-class GPUs and AMD Ryzen 9800X3D processors.
These upgrades deliver a substantial 2.8x performance increase, reaching 62 TFLOPS — triple the power of a PlayStation 5 Pro. The new servers will provide an RTX 5080-class experience on the Ultimate service tier.
Key new features and enhancements include:
- NVIDIA Blackwell architecture integration: This brings advanced graphics capabilities, significantly improved streaming quality, and the fastest frame rates yet on the cloud platform.
- NVIDIA DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation: Enables up to 5K resolution streaming at 120fps, a performance level previously only achievable on elite gaming PCs.
- NVIDIA Reflex technology: Supports up to 360fps at 1080p with network latency often under 30ms, optimizing responsiveness for competitive gaming.
- Cinematic-Quality Streaming (CQS) mode: Uses 4:4:4 chroma sampling, AI sharpening, and advanced AV1 encoding to deliver richer colors, sharper text, and crystal-clear scenes even under variable network conditions.
- Install-to-Play feature: Allows Premium members to download and install games each session using 100 GB of free cloud storage, with an option for permanent storage. This feature expands playable titles from 2,300 to over 4,800 overnight.
- Expanded device and display support: Premium members can stream at 90fps on Steam Decks, up to 4K 120fps on Lenovo Legion Go S handheld, 5K 120Hz on supported LG monitors, and 4K 120Hz on supported LG TVs without extra hardware. Mac users receive full Blackwell RTX upgrades, and there is enhanced peripheral support such as for Logitech racing wheels.
In addition, partnerships with Comcast, Deutsche Telekom AG, and others aim to enhance broadband and 5G streaming performance globally. The improvements in CQS aim to deliver clearer moving images, especially in foliage-heavy scenes.
The combination of Blackwell SuperPod servers and powerful AMD CPUs in data centers closest to players worldwide delivers a new level of cloud gaming fidelity, speed, and responsiveness for GeForce NOW Ultimate members. These upgrades signify the largest leap for the service in over a decade.
Nvidia is also introducing the Install-to-Play feature, adding thousands of potential new titles to the service. Users can purchase persistent storage in tiers of 200GB, 500GB, and 1TB for future use. Persistent storage will preserve saved game data for titles without Steam Cloud support.
In summary, Gamescom 2025 marks the rollout of Nvidia's Blackwell-powered SuperPod servers on GeForce NOW, enabling groundbreaking cloud gaming performance with 5K/120fps streaming, ultra-low latency, enhanced image quality, a massive expanded game library with Install-to-Play, and broad device compatibility.
