NRCM Launches Sustainable Maine Grant Program for Schools & Nonprofits
The Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) has opened applications for its Sustainable Maine Grant Program. The initiative supports schools, nonprofits, municipalities, and libraries in their sustainability efforts. Successful past projects include the Bring Your Own Bag Midcoast and the South Portland Waste Reduction Committee. Applications must be submitted by December 5, 2025, with applicants notified within three weeks.
The grant program, which offers up to $2,000, encourages innovative waste reduction measures. It aims to divert resources from landfills and promote sustainability. Preference is given to start-up groups or established organizations with new initiatives. Funding requests are evaluated based on relevance to NRCM's Sustainable Maine Program, project feasibility, and the need for funding to achieve sustainability goals. Additionally, the New Sustainable Maine Libraries Grant Program is providing resources for libraries to create or expand community repair workshops and Libraries of Things.
The deadline for submitting grant applications is December 5, 2025. Applicants can expect to hear about their status within three weeks. The NRCM's Sustainable Maine program has a proven track record of supporting successful sustainability projects, as seen in past initiatives like Food Fuels Learning's Sustainable Practices Action Group.
