Museums Open Late on April 6th
Prepare for an unforgettable night as Düsseldorf's Night of Museums returns on April 6, promising a dazzling array of art, music, and cultural experiences.
This year, the event spans from 7 pm to 2 am, with a total of 40 museums, exhibition houses, galleries, and off-spaces participating. The city's nocturnal bus lines run every 10 minutes, ensuring easy access to all locations.
One of the highlights of this year's event is the Oberbilker Christuskirche, which will host an exhibition by the international artist movement Biowoman for the first time. Meanwhile, The Brause will showcase the works of Düsseldorf artist Oliver Rake, who has been active since the early 1980s under the graffiti pseudonym "Magic".
K21, a renowned institution, is also part of the Night of Museums, currently showcasing the works of British video star Ed Adkins. Visitors can also catch performances by Stefan Yürke, Harmonious Thelonious with Techno Africaine, and Frank D'Arpino and Magic at The Brause.
Schloss Benrath is another must-visit location, where visitors can observe bats in the park from 9 pm. For those interested in street art, the former toilet facilities of the clean room under Jahnplatz will not disappoint. Rake, considered one of the pioneering figures of street art, will be presenting his work at various locations.
The Wim-Wenders-Gymnasium on Schmiedestraße is part of the event as well, with former classrooms of Block C serving as workshops and studios. Werft 77, an exhibition hall located directly on the Rhine in the Reisholzer harbor, is presenting international contemporary art.
The Night of Museums event offers much more than just art. Art is supplemented with additional offers such as concerts, guided tours, artist talks, or DJ sets at various locations. The program brochure, traditionally navy blue, lists all stations and their respective programs.
Visitors can use the shuttle service, included in the 14 euro entry price, to travel between locations. For those who prefer to cycle, rental bikes from "FordPass Bike" will be available for free during the event. Grabbeplatz in the old town serves as the bus hub and central information station.
Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Düsseldorf's vibrant art scene. Grab your Night of Museums brochure, available throughout the city for weeks, and get ready for an unforgettable night!
