Museum Night's DEW21 Celebrates a Quarter-Century: Examining the Anniversary Lineup

On the evening of September 20, 2025, Dortmund will come alive with a dazzling array of cultural experiences as the city hosts its annual DEW21 Museum Night. This unique event promises to captivate visitors of all ages, offering a diverse range of activities from poetry and music performances to interactive workshops and behind-the-scenes glimpses into various institutions.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the participation of Halle 77, Dortmund's Museum for Old and Youngtimers, for the first time. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore this fascinating collection of vehicles spanning decades.

The Schauspiel Dortmund will present "ON AIR: The future runs on your frequency", a poetic-political performance that combines music and stories. Meanwhile, the Karnevalsmuseum will offer insights into the history of carnival and the chance to try on some funny costumes.

For those interested in digital art, the digital art center "Phoenix des Lumières" will present four different light art shows. The Dortmund U will also feature a 3D facade mapping on its south and west facades.

The Natural History Museum Dortmund will offer visitors a glimpse into the work of preparators, while the science comedy duo "Physikanten & Co." will present the show "FOIAH! - The Fantastic Fire Festival" at the DASA.

The library of the German Cookbook Museum invites visitors to participate in the interactive action "Regional, local, and delicious - does it work?". The Dortmund main cemetery is also participating for the first time, offering tours of the Columbarium and the crematorium.

Visitors can also look forward to a close-up look at modern firefighting and rescue operations at the Dortmund fire department's Fire and Rescue Station 1. The VHS Dortmund offers various courses, including drawing manga, AI insights, line dance classes, and evening entertainment.

The event will start at 4 PM, following a seven-minute bell ringing from Dortmund's city churches at 3:53 PM. DJ Salvatore Mancuso will set the mood on the Friedensplatz before the musical fireworks begin at 10 PM. The top act for the night, KAMRAD, will perform at 10:45 PM on the Friedensplatz.
