Medieval relics persist in enigma: The crumbling castles on Lake Schlier harbor numerous unknown facts

In the picturesque region of Bavaria, Germany, a discovery tour by bike presents the Isar cycle path, a 290-kilometer-long journey that follows the river. This route offers an idyllic and invigorating experience for cyclists, allowing them to immerse themselves in the region's natural beauty.

Meanwhile, history enthusiasts may find solace in the ruins of Hohenwaldeck Castle, located in the Miesbach region. The castle, which was probably built between 1150 and 1250, has an intriguing past. Historical records and archaeological findings from that era suggest a construction period of nearly a century for this majestic structure. However, a tragic event in the late 15th century saw the castle largely destroyed by a rockslide.

The hike to the castle ruins starts at Schliersee and follows the signpost for Fischhausen, taking approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. The journey ends at Schliersee station, with an option to return via train from Neuhaus station.

Unfortunately, the popularity of Hohenwaldeck as an excursion destination has had dramatic consequences for the surrounding nature. Tourists have been overwhelming the area, leading to concerns about the preservation of the region's natural beauty.

A nearby attraction is the Markus Wasmeier Open-Air Museum, open until 9th November. This museum offers a glimpse into traditional Bavarian life and culture, providing visitors with a unique insight into the region's history and customs.

Elsewhere in Bavaria, a traditional business has closed its doors after 60 years. The closure, considered an 'honorary crime,' has left a void in the region's cultural landscape.

In a separate incident, a local discovered a heavy oak chest with fittings, believed to be the treasure of the castle lords. However, upon opening the chest, it was found to be empty.

In a more troubling turn of events, the car of the sister of a business owner was spat on, leading to 'bloody revenge' by a gang. This incident has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of business owners and tourists in the region.

Despite these challenges, Bavaria continues to attract visitors from around the world, offering a rich tapestry of history, culture, and natural beauty. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or a cycling enthusiast, there's something for everyone in this charming region.
