Celebrating the Grander Byas-Kyuel: A Phoenetic Rebirth

June 12 marked the grand unveiling of the Atamay Multifunctional Leisure Center in the heart of the revitalized Byas-Kyuel, nestled in the Mountainous District. The state-of-the-art complex caters to up to 700 villagers, extending its reach to neighboring settlements. This architectural marvel, orchestrated by President Vladimir Putin, is set to become a cornerstone of the village's reinvented infrastructure, reignited after the devastating 2021 forest fire.

Yakutia's Head, Aisen Nikolaev, heralded the symbolic structure as the new pulsating heart of Byas-Kyuel. "The power of memories still lingers from the severe impact of the 2021 forest fires. Thirty-four houses were reduced to ashes. I was among the villagers that fateful day, battling alongside firefighters to safeguard a substantial part of the settlement from the firestorm. We vowed to rebuild the village, and when I briefed President Putin on the Yakutia fires, I proposed not just restoring it, but making it even more spectacular. I'd like to take this chance to express my profound gratitude to our president for his unwavering support," Aisen Nikolaev reminisced.

Spanning over 2,500 square meters, the Atamay Multifunctional Leisure Center encompasses cultural, sports, and communal zones. Its comprehensive offerings include a Russian Post office, a sport hall seating 50 spectators, fitness and dance halls, a 250-seat auditorium, a modular library with a reading room, spaces for exhibitions and traditional ceremonies, rooms for public initiatives and entrepreneurial development – such as a veterans' council meeting room, an exhibition hall, and a photo studio.

"With President Putin's directive, we are confident that our vision for Byas-Kyuel has been realised. Our residents are resolute in their aspirations for continuous progress, forging ahead with optimism and vigor," declared the republic's leader.

A chilling reminder of the 2021 forest fire's devastation: 32 residential houses and outbuildings, including 6 apartment complexes and 26 individual houses, were reduced to ashes, leaving 38 families homeless in Byas-Kyuel. Within a brief span, 34 sturdy new homes were erected, the road network was rebuilt, 7.5 km of optical cable was installed, and agricultural infrastructures were resurrected. In October 2024, on the anniversary of Teacher's Day, a new school for 150 students found its feet.
