Kikla on the Hunt for New Digs

Brace yourself, Dresden! The popular children's clothing exchange project, Kikla, is on the prowl for some fresh digs. You heard that right, folks. By October 2025, Kikla bids adieu to its current home and needs a new abode, pronto. But what's a new home without a wishlist? Affordability, accessibility, a minimum of 50 square meters, and top-notch public transport connections are at the top of their list. Even though options in Strehlen and Löbtau are on the table, Kikla prefers to stick to the Neustadt side of the Elbe.

Now, if you're wondering why the move's on, let me spill the tea. A new concept is brewing at the AZ Conni, and it ain't got room for Kikla anymore. D'oh! An Instagram post from AZ Conni reads: "It's not just our room, but the entire room should be used for political education, youth work, and organizing. More deets on the new inhabitants will be coming your way soon."

Time to pack up, Kikla!

Run mostly on private donations, this charitable project ditched relying on government funding and is now in the capable hands of dedicated volunteers. It’s headed towards the formation of an association, and the crew is quite the eclectic mix. Pregnant ladies and young moms, oh my! They help run the show during their maternity leave, and some even stay on to take on organizational tasks after returning to work.

At the moment, Kikla's been nestled in the AZ Conni since March 2021 (yep, Neustadt-Geflüster since March 11, 2021). Now, they're waving adieu to their cozy nest and on the hunt for new premises, preferably in the Neustadt or the Hecht Quarter. If you've got any leads, drop them a line at [email protected].
