Inside the Pages of the Crimson Tome
In Astana, the No. 12 Mass Library welcomed children and teenagers for an ecological hour aimed at raising awareness about Kazakhstan's nature conservation efforts. The event, which was part of the nationwide "Taza Qazaqstan" campaign, took place in the library's reading room and featured a book exhibition called "I Know the World."
The "Taza Qazaqstan" campaign is an environmental initiative that encourages citizens, including youth, to protect nature and improve ecological conditions. Activities include public clean-up efforts, tree-planting campaigns, and awareness-raising events. The campaign has significant government support and includes planting millions of trees, removing large amounts of garbage, and modernizing environmental policies and technologies.
The event at the library was dedicated to plants included in Kazakhstan’s Red Book, a conservation document that protects flora at risk of extinction. Children were taught about the importance of these rare and endangered species and their role in biodiversity conservation. The interactive part of the event included solving ecological riddles, guessing about animals, and discussing rare Kazakhstan fauna.
A short film about the importance of caring for nature was shown to the children, highlighting the negative effects of littering and the importance of waste sorting. Kateryna Tyshchenko, who was present at the event, even took a photo of one of the participants. Aigerm Almaganbetova, the library's manager, emphasized the importance of children learning about rare plants and their role in the country's green initiatives.
The children showed great interest in the books at the exhibition, which featured literature about rare animals and plants. The event not only provided educational content but also engaged young people in learning about Kazakhstan’s environment and their role in the country’s green initiatives. The library, which welcomes both children and adults, encourages reading about rare plants and encourages everyone to join in the efforts to protect and conserve Kazakhstan’s unique flora and fauna.
