Ikea Opens Pop-Up Store in Nuremberg to Revitalize City Center
Ikea has opened a new pop-up store in Nuremberg's city center, aiming to revitalize the area which has faced high vacancy rates, particularly in the Breite Gasse region. The store, located in the former Kaufhof building, opened on October 2, 2025, and is integrated into the existing Woolworth outlet, expanding its product range.
The new Ikea store, which focuses on 'Cooking & Eating', offers kitchen accessories and dishes. This concept will be expanded with seasonal highlights in the coming months to further boost the city center's appeal. The opening of the store is seen as a positive step towards reviving the city center and the former Kaufhof building. Martin Albrecht, the Ikea manager, expressed support for the city center with this pop-up store. A well-known influencer recently commented on the high vacancy rates in the city center, highlighting the need for such initiatives. Meanwhile, in Bamberg, an Ikea pop-up store opened on September 5, 2025, at 11 a.m., located in Hallstadt at the Ertl-Center.
Customers can shop for small items directly at the Ikea pop-up store in Nuremberg or order larger furniture pieces for delivery. The store's opening is part of broader efforts to revitalize the city center and is expected to contribute positively to the area's recovery.
