Ice Cream Prices Slashed by Freibad Kiosk Attendant

In the heart of Rastatt, Baden-Württemberg, Hardie Baldig, the operator of the kiosk at Reichental swimming pool, has made a significant decision to lower the prices of ice cream, snacks, and drinks. This move aims to make treats more accessible for families and children who may be facing economic concerns or tight budgets.

Baldig, a father of three children and the grandfather of three grandchildren, noticed that many visitors were hesitant or unable to spend much during their visits. He felt a sense of responsibility to help improve the overall experience at the pool during challenging financial times.

The prices of entrance fees at swimming pools are increasing, making visits less affordable for many people. Baldig, who has been operating the kiosk for over two years, decided not to follow this trend. Instead, he chose to lower the prices at his kiosk.

The price of ice cream, previously 2.80 euros, is now 2.50 euros. A popular refreshment, water, which used to cost 3.20 euros, now only costs 2.50 euros, with a 50-cent reduction. Even the price of a wheat beer has been reduced from 3.20 euros to 3 euros.

Baldig expressed that he would feel ashamed to profit at the expense of pool visitors. He does not aim to get rich from his kiosk but rather to make a day at the swimming pool affordable for families of four.

In a recent visit to a nearby zoo, Baldig found that the same ice cream he sells for 2.50 euros costs 4.30 euros. This reinforced his decision to lower prices, ensuring that his kiosk remains an affordable option for pool visitors.

Despite inflation, Baldig intends to maintain the same prices for his kiosk offerings next year. He works late into the night to ensure his customers' joy, and he does not turn away children who cannot afford an ice cream.

Baldig's decision to lower prices is a testament to his commitment to making the swimming pool experience enjoyable and affordable for everyone. His kiosk continues to be a popular spot for pool visitors, providing a welcome respite from the heat and a chance to enjoy a treat without breaking the bank.

In this light, Baldig, a family man with grandchildren, has thoughtfully adjusted the prices at his kiosk to cater to the lifestyle of pool visitors, particularly families, who might be struggling financially. Not only has he revised the prices of food-and-drink items, but also he has considered home-and-garden essentials, ensuring that the pool environment remains affordable and welcoming.
