Hurry to the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair: Your comprehensive guide to the event

The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair is set to return from August 8 to August 16, 2025, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This year, the fair promises a host of new attractions and special events, maintaining its long tradition while adding fresh experiences.

7News, the official sponsor of the fair, is hosting shows on specific days. John Gonzalez will take the stage on Wednesday, Aug. 13, followed by Kellye Lynn on Thursday, Aug. 14, and Adam Longo on Saturday, Aug. 16.

The fair opens its gates at 10 a.m., and the carnival begins at Noon, from Saturday, Aug. 9 to Thursday, Aug. 14. On Friday, Aug. 8, the fair and carnival open at 3 p.m., and close at midnight.

The fair will be themed "Make a Bee-Line to the Fair," with daily live honey bee demonstrations highlighting pollinators and agriculture. Other classic fair staples include farm animals, funnel cake, the Ferris wheel, and nearly 40 rides ranging from children's rides like the merry-go-round and Dragon Coaster to thrill rides such as Himalaya, Colossus, and Genesis.

New attractions this year include The Rock-n-Circus, featuring a one-man circus stunt show by Shane Hansen, First Bite Fish Tank, a new educational attraction where families and kids can learn about different species of fish and handling live bait for fishing, and Caribbean Cantina, a new food vendor offering unique foods and drinks.

Entertainment at the fair includes a circus stunt show, toilet seat decorating contest, pig races, hypnotists, magic shows, and chainsaw carving demonstrations. A variety of contests and performances designed for all ages and interests will also be held.

The fair will host several special events. Family Day is on Monday, Aug. 11, with one-day ride wristbands available for $25. Senior Day is on Tuesday, Aug. 12, with free admission for seniors (ages 62 and older) until 5 p.m. Military Day is on Thursday, Aug. 14, with free admission for active military personnel in uniform or those with a valid military ID until 5 p.m. The Renegade Monster Truck Tour, Red Eye Rodeo, and Stoney Roberts Demolition Derby will take place at the Sheehy Ford Grandstand.

For those planning to attend, parking at the fairgrounds costs $20 per car. Fairgoers can take a free bus ride to the fair and back from the Germantown and Rockville Montgomery College locations. Ride-share apps must use the 16 Chestnut Street entrance for drop-off and pick-up.

7News' First Alert Weather Chief Meteorologist Veronica "VJ" Johnson is the official meteorologist of the fair. VJ Johnson's forecasts will be broadcasted nightly for the latest fair weather. VJ Johnson's face will be seen around the fair with a QR Code for downloading the First Alert Weather app.

The Colossus, a new ride at the fair with height requirements, will be a thrilling addition for fairgoers. Riders must be at least 4 feet 7 inches tall and no taller than 6 feet 5 inches.

Perfect conditions are in the forecast for the fair with temperatures in the 80s. Children 11 years and under get free admission every day, and season tickets cost $96 and include parking. One-day admission tickets cost $13, and one-day carnival ride wristbands cost $33. Hand stamps and parking end at 10:30 p.m., and entry ends one hour before closing.
