Art Connects Europe: A Celebration of European Culture in Gütersloh

Gütersloh, Germany is set to host a series of exciting exhibitions as part of its bicentennial celebrations, "200 Years of Gütersloh". One such event is the "Art Connects Europe" exhibition, which took place on August 26, 2025.

The exhibition, held at the Forum of the Town Hall, showcases contemporary artworks with local connections by artists from Gütersloh's partner cities. Among the artists represented is SOMEART, an interdisciplinary street artist from Poland, known for his work in painting, artistic actions in urban spaces, and photography. SOMEART began his artistic career after completing several art schools focused on computer graphics and photography.

From Sweden, artist Nina Edling, a long-standing member of the Falun Art Association, will also display some of her works. Edling's art spans various mediums, including painting and photography.

The "C-City - Europe Lies Next Door" exhibition, a diverse group show, will run from September 3rd to October at the Gallery in the Forum of the Town Hall. This exhibition features works from England, including illustrator and designer Toby Anderton, photographer Lesley Grand-Scrutton, and artist and Parkinson's activist Jane Shipton.

Artists from Broxtowe (UK), Châteauroux (FR), Falun (SE), and Grudziądz (PL) will also be showcased. In addition to the "C-City - Europe Lies Next Door" exhibition, the "C-City Amateur Project" exhibition "Connecting Europe" will be on display at the Serpil Neuhaus Gallery from September to October. This exhibition features various forms of expression, including photography, collages, and intricate prints.

The public opening of the "Art Connects Europe" exhibition will take place on September 2nd at 7 pm. Registration is required for the public opening. The exhibitions can be visited during the Town Hall's opening hours, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 12 pm, as well as during events in the Town Hall and by appointment.

French photographer Bruno Dewaele will take viewers on a visual treasure hunt in his exhibition, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the artistic offerings. Admission to both exhibitions is free, making it an accessible and enjoyable experience for all.
