Fort Collins Residents Fight Proposed Concrete Plant Amid Health Concerns

Residents of Fort Collins are gearing up for public hearings on October 7, 2025, regarding a proposed concrete mixing plant at 516 N. Highway 287. The hearings aim to discuss the project's impact and address community concerns. The City Council has already expressed opposition to the plant, citing its misalignment with the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the city and Larimer County.

The proposed site is within the City of Fort Collins Growth Management Area and is already burdened environmentally. Residents fear the plant will exacerbate health risks for vulnerable populations, including children, seniors, and those with asthma. The nonprofit Beat the Batch in NoCo has been leading the opposition, encouraging residents to submit letters of concern to the Larimer County Planning Commission. The plant's owner, Aragon Holdings, affiliated with Loveland Ready Mix, is preparing its fourth submittal to the commission. Residents are urged to submit letters combining factual evidence with personal stories to [email protected] and [email protected].

The public hearings on October 7, 2025, will provide an opportunity for residents to voice their concerns about the potential long-term health and environmental consequences of the concrete mixing plant. The City Council's opposition and the active involvement of local residents indicate the significance of this issue to the community.
