Festival showcasing European cinema, music, and cuisine unfolds in a Romanian coastal town

The seaside town of Eforie Sud, situated on the Romanian Black Sea coast, is set to host the 2025 Cinemascop Festival from August 1 to August 10. This open-air summer cinema (Grădina de vară) event promises a ten-day celebration of European cultures, featuring award-winning films, creative and recycling workshops, community meals, morning beach sports, and evening music and dance events.

The festival's programme includes a diverse range of European films, with the opening night screening "A Nobel Story" on August 1. Other films on offer are Hugh Welchman and Dorota Kobiela's The Peasants, Bogdan Mureşanu's The New Year That Never Came, Paolo Virzì's Like Crazy, Thomas Cailley's Animal Kingdom, Martin Horský's Women on the Run, Karen Maine's Rosaline, Jiří Mádl's Waves, and Ed Perkins's The Princess.

Community meals, a success from the 2024 edition, will be held throughout the festival, showcasing the culinary traditions of the participating European cultural institutes. The first dinner, organised by the Polish Institute on August 1, invites the audience to savour traditional Polish cuisine dishes. Moreover, Dutch pancakes will be prepared by the festival's volunteer team on August 9, and Tatar gastronomy will be celebrated on August 8.

In addition to the films and meals, creative and recycling workshops will engage visitors actively from August 4 to August 7. Workshops for children are scheduled for August 3, August 8, and August 9 to August 10.

Morning beach sports and nightly music and dance performances enrich the festival experience, ensuring there's something for everyone. A silent disco party is planned for August 9, adding an exciting twist to the event.

The summer garden in Eforie Sud, which reopened in the summer of 2018 following a revamping initiative by the Czech Center in Bucharest, will serve as the venue for these cultural extravaganzas.

Best of all, admission to all activities at the festival is free, making it accessible to everyone. For more information, please contact simona@our website.
