Meet Nicole Prim, the Outdoorsy Marketing Guru on a Mission
Nicole Prim fell head over heels for hiking after working in Montana on the border of Glacier National Park, and that love only grew when she moved to Washington State. She believes everyone deserves the opportunity to enjoy nature, and she's on a mission to make that happen.
"I'm absolutely passionate about preserving and protecting trail systems," she says.
Currently the CRO of BCom Solutions, a digital marketing firm focusing on purpose-driven and impact initiatives, Nicole's dedication to the outdoors doesn't stop at work. She also serves on the board of gameHERS, a community for women in gaming. With a B.S. degree from Columbia University, she's no stranger to success. Even in winter, you can find her exploring the local trails in her new home, the DC area.
When Nicole reached out to join the AHS Board, she made it clear that she cares deeply about ensuring trails are accessible, educational, and inclusive for all. She's eager to lead by example and does not mind getting her hands dirty to help amplify and grow the AHS mission.
We're thrilled to have Nicole by our side! She's already planning to attend Hike the Hill and a Volunteer Vacation later this year.
Behind the Scenes with Nicole:
What fuels your love for hiking?
During the pandemic, I discovered hiking was the perfect way to get outside and exercise without relying on anyone else. I recently moved to the Pacific Northwest and met some incredible friends through hiking. It was even how I met my husband - we both mentioned we enjoyed hiking, so he took me on a winter hike up Mt. Ellinor for our first date!
Favorite hiking spot(s)?
Washington State offers year-round hiking opportunities, making it one of my favorite places to explore. But Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest has a special place in my heart. There's a trail called Ptarmigan Ridge that takes you straight to the eastern base of Mount Baker, offering stunning views and a unique sense of accomplishment.
Unforgettable hiking memories?
I have two favorite memories. Last summer, I embarked on a sixty-six-mile backpacking trip through Glacier National Park. It was both challenging and humbling, but I learned so much about myself and nature. My honeymoon was also hike-focused, as my husband and I tackled The High Divide Trail in the Olympics in Washington, in the pouring rain. Despite the discomfort, it was an incredible experience that demonstrated our compatibility.
Trails: the great connector of people
There's something special about the people you meet on the trail. Everyone seems happy and friendly. I've never met a grumpy hiker! It creates a bond and a sense of community that I love.
Newbies to hiking: just do it!
Don't let the gear Hold you back. Start small with a backpack and sneakers. As you gain experience, you can invest in what you need. Just get outside and enjoy the fresh air!
Next on Nicole's adventure bucket list: the Grand Canyon's Rim-to-Rim!
I've always dreamed of hiking the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim, and this spring, I'm finally making it a reality for my birthday. I haven't been to the Grand Canyon before, but I can't wait to explore the desert. It's going to be a challenging hike, but I'm excited to see what lies ahead!
Welcome, Nicole! We can't wait to hear about your Grand Canyon adventure! Stay tuned for updates on the AHS Blog in the spring.
