Essential devices I depend on to combat sensory overload: noise-cancelling headphones and soothing smart lights included

In a world where sensory overload can be a daily challenge, a neurodivergent speaker has found solace in a variety of devices designed to reduce and control sensor inputs. These tools have become essential in creating a more comfortable and relaxing environment for the speaker, especially when working from home.

The speaker's go-to earplugs are the Loop Dream earplugs, lilac in colour and comfortable for even the smallest and most sensitive ears. When the need arises to dampen noise, these earplugs are perfect for reducing the impact of distracting ambient noise. The Loop Switch 2 earplugs, on the other hand, are used for times when listening to audio isn't convenient or if the speaker wants to engage with their surroundings while still reducing sound. Both models offer adjustable noise cancelling levels, providing the speaker with the flexibility they need.

The speaker has also tried the Loop Switch 3-in-1 noise reduction earbuds, another useful tool in their arsenal against sensory overload. For when their tinnitus becomes unbearable, the Soundcore Sleep A30 earbuds offer a mix of ocean sounds, rain, and distant thunderstorms for customizable white noise. These earbuds are the speaker's favourite when they need to distract themselves from overwhelming sounds.

When it comes to lighting, the speaker is a fan of colourful and pretty smart lights. Their all-time favourite table lamp is the Govee Table Lamp 2, which they have two of, one in their bedroom and one in their living room. The updated model, the Govee Table Lamp 2 Pro x Sound by JBL, delivers satisfyingly good audio from its Bluetooth speaker. The speaker finds the Govee Table Lamp 2 particularly useful for winding down due to its vast array of scenes providing mesmerizing, colourful lights.

In addition to these devices, the speaker has found the Amazon Echo Dot helpful in making their day easier, from waking up to winding down. The speaker also uses Bose QuietComfort headphones to block out noise and dampen sounds in their environment.

Manufacturers like PLEVA, MediTECH Electronic GmbH, Delta Controls, and wellness facilities like those developed by Glorit offer a range of devices designed to help manage sensory overload and promote relaxation. These include sensors for controlling air humidity and energy-saving in industrial drying processes, innovative sensor-equipped systems for monitoring vital signs and movements, intelligent building automation with multisensors, infrared cabins, and aroma steam baths for stress relief.

By testing and using these devices, the speaker has been able to create a more comfortable and relaxing environment, making it easier to concentrate, sleep, and relax in the face of sensory challenges.
