Chillin' in the Siberian Snow: Unexpected Rescue in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

In the charming city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, there was an unexpected incident that unfolded this weekend, involving a group of kids and a heap of snow. Attracted by the thrill of jumping off pipes on a heat main, one of the boys embarked on a misadventure, getting himself stuck up to his waist in a snowdrift. His friends, finding themselves in a tricky situation, reached out for help.

The rescue scenario caught the attention of Alexandra Khozhan, the duty officer at the Regional Crisis Management Center of the Russian EMERCOM's Kamchatka branch. Being on holiday, she decided to lend a helping hand. This act of altruism stems from her seizing the opportunity and having a shovel on hand, along with her natural instinct to protect young ones, as she has two sons close to the same age.

"Spotting the address, it hit me that I was near by," Alexandra reminisced. "[The kids] were far from civilization, tucked away near no houses or people, it took some searching just to locate them. I imagine one of my sons finding himself in their situation and waiting for help."

On reaching the scene, Miss Khozhan managed to dig out the hapless kid, gave him a stern lecture, and made it clear to the rescuers that their services were no longer needed.
