Elderly individuals traversing scripture stops set up in Pemflinger
In the heart of Bavaria, a unique cultural landmark awaits visitors - the Bible Garden in Schweinhütt. Established around the year 2000, this outdoor attraction offers a spiritual and educational experience like no other.
The Bible Garden, situated surrounding the filial church Maria Königin, is a collaboration between the local community, then-priest Josef Ederer, and the district advisory service at the Regen district office. It is a popular tourist destination that invites visitors to explore key scenes from the Old and New Testaments in a new light.
The garden features 25 beautifully designed stations, each representing a significant biblical moment. In the Old Testament, visitors can witness the Creation of the World and Garden of Eden, Noah’s Ark and the Flood, Abraham’s Covenant, and Moses and the Exodus. Meanwhile, the New Testament scenes include the Nativity, Baptism of Jesus, Miracles of Jesus, The Crucifixion and Resurrection, and The Great Commission.
Each scene is accompanied by text explaining the biblical context and significance, providing an educational experience alongside the narrative scenes. The garden also includes plants mentioned in the Bible, creating a botanical experience that complements the spiritual journey.
The layout of the garden guides visitors on a journey through biblical history, encouraging reflection and learning. Hermine Daschner, who organised a day trip for the Pemfling/Grafenkirchen senior group, chose the Bible Garden as a destination despite the rain. The trip provided an opportunity for the senior group to engage with their faith and learn about biblical history.
For those planning to visit the Bible Garden, contacting the local tourism office or the garden’s administration can provide up-to-date details on the current exhibits and any seasonal or thematic events. The garden is a must-visit for anyone seeking a spiritual and educational experience in Bavaria.
The Bible Garden, with its home-and-garden setting, provides a unique lifestyle experience immersed in historical and biblical contexts, showcasing temporary exhibits and thematic events for visitors to explore. Offering a blend of spiritual reflection, educational opportunities, and botanical exploration, the garden invites all to embark on a journey through scripture in the heart of Bavaria.
