New Mobility Manager Appointed in Rhein-Kreis Neuss

Samira Smentkowski has been appointed as the mobility manager for the Rhein-Kreis Neuss, taking on the challenge of developing a forward-thinking mobility concept for the district.

Born and raised in Düsseldorf, Smentkowski graduated from high school in Neuss and furthered her education in Cologne, where she studied geography and economics. Prior to her new role, she worked in sales and quality assurance for a medium-sized company.

Smentkowski's interests extend beyond her professional life, with a passion for football, nature, languages, and cultures, particularly those found in South America.

Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke, the district administrator, welcomed Smentkowski in Grevenbroich, expressing his confidence in her abilities to lead the mobility project.

The mobility concept Smentkowski is developing focuses on a hydrogen mobility infrastructure integrated with regional partners Rheinbahn and Stadtwerke Düsseldorf. A key element is the establishment of Europe’s most powerful hydrogen refuelling station in Düsseldorf, serving the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district among others.

This station, with a daily capacity of up to 5 tonnes of hydrogen, can refuel multiple vehicle types simultaneously—including buses, trucks, passenger cars, and light commercial vehicles—enabling sustainable, large-scale hydrogen-powered transport.

Key themes of this mobility concept include hydrogen production, infrastructure, and demand integrated within one concept, support for diverse vehicle fleets, collaboration between energy providers, transport operators, and government entities, and engagement in mobility partnership initiatives. These features reflect Rhein-Kreis Neuss’s commitment to advancing sustainable, hydrogen-based mobility solutions with scalability and regional cooperation at the core.
