The city of Neuss is gearing up for a significant transformation as preparations begin for the Landesgartenschau 2026. This event will see a former racecourse area transformed into a vibrant city park, moving away from the predominantly concrete environment towards more green, natural urban spaces.
From the 35th week, the rose garden will be planted with shrubs, roses, and perennials. Meanwhile, the shooting tent will be set up, and the site will be secured from August 13th. The specific landscape gardeners responsible for this project have not been explicitly named, but it is known that they will be tasked with planning and implementing the transformation of the landscape to create multifunctional, aesthetic green spaces suitable for urban environments.
The gardeners will also construct new elements such as pavillions that integrate cultural heritage, collaborate with horticultural experts, and focus on sustainable plant use, biological pest control, and climate-adaptive design concepts. They will coordinate on-site construction, planting, and maintenance activities to ensure the project's timely progress and quality.
From the 36th week, the willow garden and the sand garden will be created. The sports field will have formwork for concrete edging created from August 11th, and from the 37th week, the cultural corner will be designed with perennials. The Hammfeldhof inner courtyard will be paved with city-provided cut paving stones, and the meadow beach area will be completed, leveled, and prepared for planting.
