Del Ray hosts a free music event, funds raised going towards youth outdoor activities
The third annual Wilderness Kids Alexandria Music Festival is set to take place on Sunday, Sept. 28, from 12 to 5 p.m. at Pat Miller Neighborhood Square (2311 Mount Vernon Avenue). This free, family-friendly event is a fundraising initiative for Wilderness Kids Alexandria, a nonprofit organisation that provides after-school programs for middle schoolers in Alexandria.
Founded in 2022, Wilderness Kids Alexandria aims to create a community-focused outdoor festival and engagement for children in the Alexandria area. Jerry Casagrande, the Executive Director of Wilderness Kids Alexandria, led the establishment of the organisation.
This year's Music festival promises an exciting lineup of local bands, including the MAYSUNS, the Derds (Del Ray Dads), Beachface, and Czars of Leisure. In addition to the Music, the event will feature raffles, craft-making, and lawn games, ensuring a fun-filled day for all attendees.
Proceeds from the Wilderness Kids Alexandria Music Festival will fund programs that facilitate outdoor activities such as climbing, surfing, skiing, camping, and exploring. The event is sponsored by Alexandria Toyota, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, Latham & Watkins LLP, and James Crowe Realty.
