Crafting a Concealed Cord Solution Using a Wooden Sign
In a bid to make the mundane task of laundry more enjoyable, one homeowner embarked on a creative project to transform their laundry room. The result? A 35-inch Tall Posable Scarecrow Craft Short, more specifically, a Hanging Wooden Sign.
The heart of this project was a 1x8 board, meticulously cut to length, sanded smooth, and painted with Waverly Inspirations Chalk Acrylic Paint in Mineral. To give it a personal touch, the word "Laundry" was stenciled onto the board using a FolkArt Alphabet Template and FolkArt ® Home DecorTM Chalk Ultra-Matte Paint in Black.
A dry brushing technique was employed to add dimension to the board with Waverly Inspirations Chalk Acrylic Paint in Cashew. The painted sign was then sanded to soften the letters and allow the gray to show through, creating a rustic yet charming aesthetic.
Cup hooks were screwed into the top of the sign, and the distance between them was adjusted based on the sign's length. The sign was hung using twist chain, with the hooks inserted onto the chain, and any excess chain cut off. This ingenious design allows the sign to float in front of the cords, hiding them and reducing their visual presence.
The biggest obstacle in the laundry closet was the tangled cords. The Hanging Wooden Sign not only addresses this issue but also fills the awkward blank space between the washer and dryer and the shelf.
It's important to note that the sign is not permanently boxing in the cords. Instead, it floats freely, making the cords more manageable and less noticeable. This DIY project is a short make that can be cut with Cricut and is perfect for seasonal decorating.
Unfortunately, the person who had the brilliant idea to create a hanging wooden sign with four brackets attached to a shelf ceiling for hiding cables in a laundry room is not publicly documented. However, the impact of this creative solution is clear: a more organised, visually appealing laundry room that makes laundry day a little less daunting.
