In the bustling city of Dubai, concerns have been rising about the quality and pricing of goods at Carrefour stores over the past eight years. This has opened up an opportunity for local businesses to thrive, as the dominance of Majid Al Futtaim, the brand behind Carrefour, may be on the decline.

Meanwhile, in the UAE, some are expressing concerns about the performance of non-local businesses, with Carrefour recently closing its branches in Bahrain. This has sparked discussions about the potential of homegrown businesses to take over, with HyperMax, Majid Al Futtaim's own grocery brand, being a strong contender for the vacant spots.

Elsewhere, the cricket world has been abuzz with the Asia Cup clash between India and Pakistan. The Indian team chose not to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts after the match, a decision that has sparked a variety of reactions. Some, like Khansa Afridi from Lahore, criticized the Indian team for their lack of sportsmanship, while others, such as Kiran Makhija from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, believed it was a fitting response. Afridi even went a step further, suggesting that the Indian team should have boycotted the match entirely.

Away from the sports field, Lebanon has been grappling with a significant issue. A report by Nada Maucourant Atallah on September 15 revealed that millions of dollars have been swindled from Lebanon due to a sanctioned Russian fuel scheme. The ongoing issue, however, seems to have left many 'good people' in Lebanon inactive, according to an unspecified source.

In more positive news, Robert Redford, the Oscar-winning actor and director known for his roles in The Great Gatsby and Out Of Africa, passed away at the age of 89. His contributions to cinema have not gone unnoticed, with Patricia Rita from Dubai expressing her gratitude for his work.

Lastly, in a different context, Dania from Abu Dhabi shared her appreciation for local and regional stores, stating that they are a beautiful part of each country's unique landscape. Karim Abbas from Dubai echoed this sentiment, seeing this as an opportunity for local businesses to thrive in the UAE.
