City Council Approves Major Modernization Project for Haus Scheppen Area

The city council has approved a major modernization project for the 'Haus Scheppen' area at Baldeneysee. The plans, developed through extensive public participation, aim to create a safe, barrier-free, and future-oriented design. The first phase, budgeted at around 2 million euros, is set to begin in 2026 and will coincide with the International Garden Exhibition (IGA) Metropole Ruhr 2027.

The modernization project will focus on several key areas. The forecourt and jetty will be redesigned, while the lakeside path will undergo renovation. Additionally, parking lot P1 will be made barrier-free, ensuring accessibility for all. Long-term plans include the development of family-friendly facilities and new open spaces, as well as improved connection to the Hespertalbahn. The administration is now tasked with further processing the approved overall concept.

The modernization of the Baldeneysee shore is set to enhance the area's accessibility and appeal. With a budget of around 2 million euros for the initial phase, the project is expected to significantly improve the surroundings of Haus Scheppen, creating a more inviting and future-oriented space for residents and visitors alike.
