Christmas pickup for evergreen decorations slated for January 10
Solingen residents are advised of changes to the waste collection schedule due to the upcoming Christmas tree collection.
The collection of Christmas trees, scheduled for January 10, will proceed as planned. However, the collection of remaining and bio containers, as well as yellow and blue containers, has been postponed and will be rescheduled. The collection of containers that was initially scheduled for January 10 will be made up on January 13.
Each subsequent container collection will be one day later than originally scheduled, until the Friday collection is made up on January 18. The updated container collection schedule can be found in the waste navigator or the waste calendar of the city.
It's important to note that only completely undecorated trees without nets, bags, or toppers will be taken for collection. The length of the trees must not exceed two meters, and the trunk diameter must not exceed 15 centimeters. The trees must be placed visibly in front of the property by 7:00 AM on the collection day.
The collection points for Christmas trees remain the same and have not been affected by the changes in the container collection schedule. These collection points make it easier for employees to pick up the trees.
The collected trees will be composted at the composting facility of Entsorgung Solingen, and the changes in the container collection schedule do not affect the composting of the collected Christmas trees at the composting facility of Entsorgung Solingen.
For accurate, reliable, and updated information about the revised collection dates in Solingen, residents are encouraged to check the official Solingen city website or the local environmental/cleaning service page directly, local news outlets or Solingen municipal social media channels, or contact Solingen’s waste management service or municipal hotline.
The updated container collection schedule, including home-and-garden waste, has been moved to January 13, following the Christmas tree collection on January 10. Residents can choose to improve their lifestyle by taking advantage of the revised schedule and properly disposing of home-and-garden waste alongside their undecorated Christmas trees in the coming weeks.
