"Astonishingly good ‘small’ OLED TV" is how we described the 48-inch Sony A90K in our review. It's a winner in the picture authenticity and sound quality sweepstakes, and its gaming credentials ain't half bad, either.

The 50-inch Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED is a real contender at full price, but with this discount, it's an absolute steal. It uses QLED technology, can disable local dimming, and comes with considered tuning to produce a surprisingly balanced and cinematic picture. It also supports all HDR formats, has surprisingly thorough gaming specs, and, of course, features the super-packed Fire OS smart platform.

Light Heavyweight Fighters: 55" TV Deals

  1. Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED 55 inches - £450 at Amazon (save £300) - Lowest price: £420

While we haven't reviewed this 55-inch version, we've been pleasantly surprised by the 65-inch Omni QLED and mildly blown away by the 50-inch model, even at their original prices. We're expecting the 55-inch version to perform similarly, with consistent, balanced picture quality, support for all HDR formats, surprisingly thorough gaming specs, and, of course, the app-packed Fire OS smart platform. With this discount, it looks like a total bargain.

  1. Samsung QE55Q80D 2024 QLED TV - £697 at Amazon (save £702) - Lowest price: £636

Samsung's Q80D is a mid-ranger that gets everything right. It lacks Mini LED tech like its more expensive siblings, but it still shines in brightness, vibrancy, sharpness, and punchiness. It has great audio, too, and kick-ass gaming features, including four HDMI 2.1 slots that all support 4K/120Hz.

  1. LG OLED55B4 2024 OLED TV - £649 at Currys (save £1051) - Lowest price: £649

We're still waiting to test the B4, but based on our experience with the C4, we're expecting the B4 to be less bright and less sharp. However, don't let that deter you - it still promises a solid performance. Plus, it supports 4K/120Hz gaming, which is a first for the B series.

  1. Samsung QE55S90D 2024 OLED TV - £979 at Amazon (save £815) - Lowest price: £897

The S90D is Samsung's step-down OLED model for 2024. We haven't reviewed it yet, so it's a bit of a gamble, but Samsung's other OLED sets have been very good, and this price is pretty tempting, especially when you consider the specs: four HDMI 2.1 slots that support all the latest gaming features.

  1. LG OLED55C4 2024 OLED TV - £999 at Amazon (save £970) - Lowest price: £900

We love the 65-inch C4, and since the 55-inch version should perform similarly, we think it's a winner. LG has worked hard to improve brightness and sharpness, resulting in a more dynamic and exciting delivery. Sound's improved, too, and gaming specs remain ace.

  1. Philips 55OLED809 2024 OLED TV - £999 at Richer Sounds (save £600) - Lowest price: £999

This 55-inch version of the OLED809 should perform very similarly to the 65-inch model we had to rate five stars for its punchy picture performance, strong sound, and substantial gaming feature set. Bonus points for the Ambilight.

The new G4 looks like MJ's comeback, and we mean that in a good way. It's a bit like the G3, but brighter and sharper. Gaming's ace, too.

One of the surprises of 2023, the A80L uses standard OLED tech to amazing effect, delivering an amazing balance of spectacular and subtle with aplomb. It's pricy, but a fresh discount makes a big difference.

This 55-inch version of the S95D should be just like the 65-inch model we adored, but smaller and cheaper. Expect dazzling colors and brightness, awesome contrast, a beautiful design, and exceptional gaming specs.

  1. Sony Bravia 8 (K55XR80) - £1399 at Amazon (save £800) - Lowest price: £1349

We tested the 65-inch Bravia 8, but this 55-inch version should perform similarly. We loved it for its balanced and immersive picture and even decent sound by TV standards.

  1. Sony XR-55A95L 2023 QD-OLED 4K TV - £1999 at Sevenoaks (save £1000) - Lowest price: £1889

With a picture that's really balanced and consistent, support for all HDR formats, good gaming specs, and, of course, the Fire OS platform laden with apps, it's an offer worth biting on.

  1. LG OLED65B4 2024 OLED TV - £899 at Amazon (save £1601) - Lowest price: £899

We haven't tested the B4, but based on what we saw at the launch event, we expect it to deliver a balanced and entertaining picture. Bonus: it supports 4K/120Hz gaming, a first for the B series.

  1. Hisense 65U8N 2024 Mini LED TV - £1199 at Amazon (save £601) - Lowest price: £1199

Hisense's 2024 flagship Mini LED scored well in our AV testing room thanks to its balanced picture and great gaming specs. The U8N comes with support for all HDR formats, too.

While we now dig the C4 (see below), the LG C3 is still available for a good chunk less, making it worth considering if your wallet's feeling a bit light. It's a rockstar all-rounder and a peerless gaming TV, and 77 inches is truly cinematic. Just budget for a dedicated audio system, 'cause the C3 sounds pretty weak.
