Celebration in Solingen: Fellfriends mark a decade of existence

Celebrating ten years of dedicated service, the animal welfare association Fellfreunde continues to make a significant impact in the lives of countless animals, particularly dogs, in Germany and Hungary. Founded on November 15, ten years ago, this volunteer-driven organisation has been working tirelessly to improve the lives of animals and find them loving homes.

Based in Germany, Fellfreunde operates entirely on a voluntary basis, with members dedicating their time and resources to the cause. The association's efforts are not limited to Germany's borders, as they collaborate with various animal protection organizations in southeastern Hungary, all of which are also staffed by 100% volunteers.

Over the past decade, Fellfreunde has achieved remarkable milestones. They have successfully rehomed over 1000 dogs, many of which were rescued from euthanasia. The organisation's work extends beyond just rehoming, as they also provide financial support to expand shelters and improve conditions for animals in Hungary.

One of the key figures in Fellfreunde's operations is Judith Biermann, who oversees pre- and post-checks, material donations, and more. The association's efforts are not without challenges, as they often have to pay to release dogs from killing stations in Hungary. However, the rewards of seeing a dog find a loving home make these challenges worthwhile.

Fellfreunde is always in need of voluntary support, particularly in the social media area. They also urgently seek financial donations, which go directly to Hungary to support their ongoing efforts. In Germany, the association helps animal protectors and associations with material donations, provides consultancy, and advocates for better coexistence between humans and animals.

As part of their work, Fellfreunde also organises foster homes for dogs. Judith Biermann reassures potential foster parents that it's possible to let go of their foster dog when they know it's going to a great home.

To celebrate their anniversary, Fellfreunde will host an illustrious programme on March 22, 2025, at the Cobra. For the latest and precise information about their current status and projects, it is best to consult their official website or social media channels directly.

Fellfreunde's commitment to looking beyond borders and their tireless efforts to save lives make them a beacon of hope for animals in need. Their work serves as a reminder of the power of compassion and the difference that can be made when individuals come together for a common cause.

Fellfreunde's work is not limited to improving the lives of animals within Germany; they also collaborate with home-and-garden associations in Hungary to expand shelters and provide better living conditions for animals. Many dogs, who have been successfully rehomed by Fellfreunde, have become beloved family members, contributing to a fulfilling pet-centric lifestyle.
