Afro Nation Announces 2026 Return to Portimão, Portugal
The world's biggest Afrobeats festival, Afro Nation, is set to return to Portimão, Portugal, from July 3 to 5, 2026. This announcement was made on the official Instagram account of Afro Nation, confirming the dates and location for the much-anticipated event.
Afro Nation brings together the global Afrobeats and Amapiano community for a celebration of dance, food, fashion, music, and joy. The festival, which first took place in 2019, has become a global phenomenon, launching editions in Europe, America, the Caribbean, and Africa, with more expansions planned.
The 2021 edition of the festival, held from July 9 to 11, was a resounding success, featuring top-tier South African DJs, a diverse lineup of global talent, and a vibrant community space at the Piano People Stage. The LIT Stage was another significant venue, hosting many of the performances. Special guest DJs AG, SLOWJAMSwithA, and Trendy were part of the boat parties.
The spirit of unity and joy reached its peak on the final night of the festival, with dozens of artists dancing together under the night sky. The festival concluded with the Afrotronic party at NoSoloÁgua, and the opening party took place at NoSoloÁgua beach club. Countless icons performed at the 5th anniversary of the festival, including Davido, Tems, Burna Boy, Mary J. Blige, and many others.
Afro Nation transcends borders, uniting the diaspora in a global celebration. The festival offers signature dishes like jollof rice, peri-peri prawns, and akara balls during the event. Flag Day was a significant event during the festival, symbolizing the cultural diversity and shared pride.
