Looking for a fun and inexpensive party favor idea for your upcoming Independence Day celebration? Look no further! These DIY 4th of July party favors are easy to make, using recycled materials and a hot glue gun. Best of all, they resemble rockets and are perfect for hiding tasty treats!

Equipment

  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Pencil(s)
  • Ruler

Materials

  • Toilet paper tube(s)
  • Rocket top template
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Cardstock red and blue
  • Tissue paper
  • Baker's twine or ribbon
  • Double stick tape
  • Glue Dots (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the patriotic themed scrapbook paper face down. Measure the tubes and mark the cuts on each end with a pencil.
  2. Draw straight lines through both pencil marks with the ruler.
  3. Cut the scrapbook paper to fit the tube using the scissors.
  4. Place a line of double stick tape or a tape runner down the tube.
  5. Wrap the paper around the tube and secure with more adhesive or tape.
  6. Cut a piece of tissue paper to fit inside the base of the cardboard tube. Use double stick tape or glue dots to secure the tissue paper.
  7. Use baker's twine to secure the tail. Tie a bow. Cut fringe in the tissue paper.
  8. Use the template included to cut the rocket toppers.
  9. Fold the rocket toppers and hot glue them. Insert the candy into the cardboard tube and hot glue the topper to the top of the tube.

Tips

  • To personalize these, write each guest's name on the rocket or use spoons, whistles, or other quirky items as treats instead of candy.
  • Add extra details like glitter, stickers, or patriotic-themed decals for a more elaborate look.
  • Don't have a hot glue gun? You can use a regular glue gun, but it may take longer for the glue to dry.
